Testing my smallsolar emergency back up kit
I attached a 12 volt truckers cab fan to my back up emergency generator and it was running for 18 straight hours! I did disconnect and it was still running. All this happened in the dark. I am now recharging the unit and will do more tests this weekend.

working on my emergency back up power systems
I continue to refine my emergency back up solar systems, I lit up my barn for some time all 4 lights and it worked fine. I need something bigger to do more, a bigger inverter and battery but it did work in a pinch. on one or two lights no problem at all.
This device would be great for emergency black outs, it also is or would be good for camping. I charge it with solar power. If you are interested let me know I can guide you.
I use modified sine wave inverters because they are cheaper but have one with a sine wave inverter that would run a computer just fine. As sine wave inverters come down I will shift almost entirely to sine wave so as to run just about anything safely.
Modified sine wave inverters are cheap to get and they do work on most products, lights, fans, even TVs but it can hiccup some data on sensitive computers or products that need a clean power source similar to the power in the house.
I have a 2400 watt inverter that is made to run saws and even the refrigerator or freezer but not so good on a computer. Sometimes it just takes both.
OK for now, call or message me a jrossini@rossini.com if you need more information.
Until next time!

Worked out to the light of my solar panels
Just worked out with me favorite Niece we used only the light of my solar emergency lighting system. Five lights on no Kansas City Power and Light, it was all done by the sun!!!

Worked out under the glow of my solar/battery lighting
Today I worked out in my basement via my emergency lighting system. I use it occationally to test it and it works. All other power was off downstairs and I had plenty of light and listened to the pathetic KC Royals while I lifted weights :)

Our energy monthly bills are skyrocketing, what can we do?
It is my desire to build out slowly my solar panels and tie into the grid. My goal is if I can cut my bill by 10 to 20% with grid tie solar and then also put in a Wattman 1200 which will save me another 10 to 20%, then my $200 to $300.00 bill drops by $75.00 to $100.00 a month. If you want more info just write me at jrossini@rossini.com for more info.

Solar power back up
My 150 watts of panels continues to charge my batteries well and keeps them topped off. I am going to add some more panels soon to get to 200 Watts. I might try some of the batteries for Ham radio field day exercises.
I moved my 10 watt mini wind generator to a new location it is working but I think I will move it again soon to get more wind. I am currently charging 2 AA batteries.
If you need any questions answered just text me a jrossini@rossini.com I will see if I can help you.

Bombing the battery
No I am not talking about dropping an A bomb on my batteries but I am talking about charging batteries. I have been a big believer in regulators and have used them constantly for years but I do have doubts. I noticed on several occasions that by using a regulator the charging of a battery was significantly slowed or stopped all together for whatever reason. What I did is what I have done many times, I went from my panels straight into the batteries and let the panel do their work. 150 watts at about 5 amps and walla did not take long to get my batteries to a full charge and ready to be used. I know all you purist will say that it will hurt the battery in the long run and yo are probably right but when you need the power you need the power and it sure charges as fast or almost as fast as a battery charger on the middle amp range. Bottom line is I will do it but remember and this is important, do not leave them unattended for a long stretch maybe just a few hours then disconnect or you might just blow the battery :(
In a separate and unrelated area, we had bunches of wind of the weekend and my little 10 watt wind generator was busting out amps as I like to say. I charged 4 AA batteries in a short amount of time to the tip top! Those little wind guys really work and work well. You can see them in my shopping cart.
OK enough for now, talk later

The case of the burbling battery :(
Well what can I say I bombed my battery a 35 amp hour gel cell I was disappointed at what the charge controller was doing or not doing and I connected right up to my battery. Ok I neglected to say I have 150 watts at about 5 amps coming in from my panels and well I sure did charge the heck out of that battery. I do not recommend doing this too many times because batteries dont like it but wow it charged fast :)
I am going to buy a new good charge controller and test that see what happens. I might have blown the old one but I did get it from e-bay and well you know the story of that tale.
Talk soon

Going to investigate the case of the missing power
I have a 45 watt unit that is older but for what ever reason when I hook it into an older regulator everything stopped. My assumption is????? A bad regulator. I am going to take it out of the circuit and see what happens. I will keep you updated.

Very pleased with this
I have had a lot of friends compliment me on my new website. they really like it. Today I went to a potential client to put in a bid on their building and they were VERY impressed by my website and said they got a "clean" feeling from the website. Thank you very much for the hard work put into it! Thought I'd pass that info along to you.
Thanks,
